Antique botanical print of an Australian native plant


French copper-line engraving from Histoire Naturelle, Botanique part of J.B.A.P.M. de Lamarck & J.L.M.Poiret, 'Tableau Encyclopedique et Methodique. Botanique' (1791-1834). The images were taken from engravings after drawings by the German artist John Paul Nusbiegel which were based on banksias collected by Sir Joseph Banks. They were published in Joseph Gaertner's 'De Fructibus et seminibus plantarum', 1788-1792, and were the first engravings of banksias ever published.
