Thomas Chippendale published in 1754 the first of three editions of his 'Gentleman and Cabinet-Maker's Director'. Published in parts and eventually collated in book form, it illustrated examples of the furniture he could make for his customers. The engravings were also sought after by other cabinet-makers throughout England and became very influential in the history of English furniture design. CONDITION : A couple of faint creases lower right corner. Discolouration at right edge of the sheet, coming 2cm into platemark.
