Original lithograph by Honore Daumier published in Paris in 1848. Initialled 'HD' in the image. From his series titled Les Divorceuses (Ladies for the right of divorce). This series contains 6 prints which appeared in the Le Charivari from August to October 1848. Honor_ Daumier (1808_1879), was a French printmaker, caricaturist, painter, and sculptor, whose many works offer commentary on social and political life in France in the 19th century. A prolific and reknown draftsman who produced over 4000 lithographs, he was perhaps best known for his caricatures of political figures and satires on the behaviour of his countrymen.
