Original antique Daumier legal lithograph

The French text below the image translates to : - Listen dear colleague, you will be pleading against me today the exact case I pleaded three weeks ago against you... isn't that funny.... - And I will reply to you in your own words, you .... this is really great... in case of need we can prompt each other... ha, ha, ha Text on the reverse as issued. Original lithograph by Honore Daumier published in Paris in 1845. Initialled 'HD' in the image. From his series on French lawyers titled Les Gens De Justice. Honore Daumier (1808-1879), was a French printmaker, caricaturist, painter, and sculptor, whose many works offer commentary on social and political life in France in the 19th century. A prolific and reknown draftsman who produced over 4000 lithographs, he was perhaps best known for his caricatures of political figures and satires on the behaviour of his countrymen. Trimmed at bottom of sheet, affecting last line of text.
