Jules Worms (1832-1924) was a 19th century French painter. He was born in Paris and began studying at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in 1849. In the early 1860s, Worms made the first of many trips to Spain where he was immediately enchanted with Spanish culture and customs. He was so enchanted with Spanish culture and customs that it became a primary theme for the rest of his career. His subject matter was typically based on the everyday life of the people, often coupled with a genial social comment on human foibles.
