Original antique medical print

The etching comes from Calendarium Londinensis, founded by William Monk. Each year a new London etching would be issued heading a conventional calendar. This calendar was produced in small numbers and collected by print and etching collectors. The calendar continued after Monk's death with other etchers providing the yearly etching. William Monk (1863-1937) was a reknown English architectural etcher of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. William Monk first studied art in his native Chester at Albion House. he then completed his education at the Royal Academy in Antwerp. In total, William Monk created slightly over one hundred original etchings during his career: most being views of London, New York, Eton, Winchester and Durham. He was elected a full member of the Royal Engravers in 1899. The sheet is cropped slightly at the bottom.
