'Engraved for Ashburton's History of England' HMS Guardian was a 44-gun Roebuck-class fifth rate frigate of the Royal Navy, which was used as a store and convict transport to Australia, under Lieutenant Edward Riou. Riou sailed the Guardian to the Cape of Good Hope and after leaving struck an iceberg. Waterstain to bottom of sheet, affecting part of the title area.
