Captain James King LLD FRS Captn Cook's Coadjutor in his Third and Last Voyage' Engraving from the octavo edition of 'A new, authentic, and complete collection of voyages round the world : undertaken and performed by royal authority.' James King FRS (1750-1784) was an officer of the Royal Navy. He served under James Cook on his last voyage around the world, specializing in taking important astronomical readings using a sextant. After Cook died he helped lead the ships on the remainder of their course, also completing Cook's account of the voyage. Small margins. Stitching holes on right hand side coming into the printed border.
