French 18th century engraving on laid paper depicting how silk is made. From 'La Nouvelle Maison Rustique' by Louis Liger, published in Paris, originally in 1700, this impression in 1777. Louis Liger was born in Auxerre in 1658. He published many works on agriculture and husbandry. 'La nouvelle maison rustique' considers a diverse range of subjects including flower, fruit and physic gardens, wine production, fish-culture, bee-keeping, birds, dogs, horses, hunting, cookery, domestic architecture and forestry.
