Full-length portrait with the town of Newcastle in the background. The engraving was published by R Turner of Newcastle and Dominic Colnaghi & Co of London. Thomas Bewick (1753 -1828) was an English wood engraver and ornithologist. In his 'A General History of Quadrupeds' he included wood-engravings of several Australian animals incl the kangaroo, dingo, possums etc. CONDITION : Very faint foxing evident in the margins.
