A view from the Thames of Alexander Pope's house with the weeping willows. After Pope's death in 1744, the house was sold to Sir William Stanhope, from whom it then passed to his son-in-law, the Irish politician Welbore Ellis, first Baron Mendip (1713-1802). From Watts's 'The Seats of the Nobility and Gentry, in a Collection of the most interesting & Picturesque Views'. Accompanied by descriptive text. Faint foxing in margins. Faint watermark in top margin.
