Warner studied commercial art at Geelong, Melbourne and Sydney. He worked with the Design Research Unit, London, later the Festival of Britain. During the 1939-45 War he worked as a camouflage artist and later as an official war artist. Postwar, he returned to his graphic arts career executing watercolour, prints, posters, stamps and other works.
