Two dogs embody characters in Harriet Beecher Stowe's novel, "Uncle Tom's Cabin." Based on painting exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1857.Published by Henry Graves & Co in London in 1860. The original oil painting was completed in 1857.
Sir Edwin Henry Landseer was an English painter, well known for his paintings of animals - particularly horses, dogs and stags. The best known of Landseer's works, however, are sculptures: the lions in Trafalgar Square, London.
Charles Mottram (1807-1876)was an English engraver who produced engravings after Landseer, Rosa Bonheur and John Martin.
