Vanity Fair medical portrait of Sir John Bland-Sutton FRCS (1855-1936). He was a surgeon at Middlesex Hospital, London, and devoted himself especially to pelvic operations upon women. In 1886 he became assistant surgeon to the hospital for women. At the Royal College of Surgeons he won the Jacksonian prize in 1892 with his essay on diseases of the ovaries and the uterine appendages, their pathology, diagnosis and treatment. Short tear at the bottom of the sheet.
