William Harvey (1578 - 1657) was an English physician. He was the first to describe completely and in detail the systemic circulation and properties of blood being pumped to the brain and body by the heart. From the 'Heads of Illustrious Persons' a series of portraits set within elaborate cartouches. Jacobus Houbraken was a Dutch line engraver who is known best for this series of portraits. Laid paper. Good margins, some faint foxing at the edges of the sheet.
