Cornelis Le Brun
Copper-line engraving. 1694. 195mm by 135mm (platemark). Cornelis Le Brun (de Bruin or Bruyn) (1652 - 1726 or 1727) was a Dutch painter and author of two accounts of his travels in Persia and other eastern lands.
A specimen of the Macropus brunii or Filander, which is a native of the Aru islands, which was living in the garden of the Dutch governor of Batavia, was described by Bruyn in the year 1711, and thus the first Kangaroo seen by a European.
