General Laidley
Tinted lithograph. C1885. 265mm by 205mm (sheet). James Laidley (1786-1835) arrived in Sydney in 1827 to become New South Wales Commissary General. He was also a foundation member of the Australian Racing Club in 1828. Laidley's Plains in Queensland was named in his honour by the botanist Allan Cunningham.
