He was known as the Duke of Edinburgh from 1866 until he succeeded his paternal uncle Ernest II as the reigning Duke of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha in the German Empire.In 1867 as Captain of HMS Galatea he visited Australia where an assasination attempt was made on his life by Henry James O'Farrell. CONDITION : A few tiny specks in the image and margins. Soft light crease across top left corner. Item #1955
